Connection grown between neighbors.
TollGate brings bearer payments to network access. It combines payment handling, captive portal access control, and gateway discovery so people can buy connectivity in small increments.
Pay for access, as you need it
The system includes Merchant for ecash payments, Valve for access control, Crows Nest for gateway discovery, and Janitor for updates. The work connects payments to the actual delivery of a network resource.
The roots of FIPS
TollGate was developed during SEC-02, with captive portal work continuing during SEC-07. Its networking work also spawned FIPS, which explores the peer-to-peer connections underneath applications.
